Manage Back Pain

Thoracic scoliosis since I was a teenager.

by Sarah
(Galway)

I have had a thoracic scoliosis since I was a teenager. I never had any pain. However, in a work related medical four years ago the doctor assessing me identified it and said it may cause me trouble as I got older.

Subsequently I went to a local Physiotherpist who advised me on Pilates. Four years on I love it, feel great and my scoliosis has disapeared! My physio tells me that some scoliosis are not permanent structural ones but what they call functional. This is where you develop a curve to compensate for an imbalance somewhere else in your body. Thats what I had!

So, if you have a scoliosis be sure you know the cause before you agree to any treatment. You may not have to live with it!! Sarah
